Scrap hospital parking charges for all NHS staff now

Calling all NHS Trust CEOs in England and Scotland to abolish car parking charges for NHS staff and outsourced NHS workers.
It’s time to do whatever it takes for our hardworking NHS staff fighting the coronavirus and scrap all hospital car parking charges immediately.

Why is this important?
No NHS worker should be left out of pocket and charged to park their cars for coming to work to care for the sick, injured and vulnerable. Never has this been more relevant and important than in the face of the global coronavirus pandemic.
NHS staff and outsourced workers in the NHS don’t need the additional worry of parking, especially when there are restrictions on public transport and it is safer in these times to drive to work than risk infection on trains and buses.
We welcome the NCP’s offer of free parking to NHS staff at its 150 locations, but hospitals Trusts must also suspend charges so that all staff, including frontline, back of house, and the army of outsourced cleaners, porters and catering staff benefit.
These workers are not highly paid but are working around the clock and risking their lives to save those suffering from Covid-19. It is unacceptable that they are charged an estimated £50-£200 a month for the privilege of parking at their place of work.
Do the decent thing today – scrap parking charges
