Sick of Statutory Sick Pay!

Employees at HC-One all contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment to the care home residents, but HC-One’s lack of sick pay creates an unhealthy workplace.

As HC-One workers, we know that when our colleagues don’t have paid sick days, they stay sick longer, we are more likely to get sick and we can make our residents sick.

The burden on the health care system is high.
The risk to our residents is high.
The financial burden we face is huge.

We want to see HC-One make good of its intensions to be a ‘Kind provider’ and invest in staff and residents’ health.

We’re sick of Statutory Sick Pay.
Give HC-One employees a company sick pay scheme.

Why is this important?

We need company sick pay for the protection of our residents and our colleagues.
We need company sick pay to give us the time to get better when we are ill.
We need company sick pay to protect us financially.

How it will be delivered

This petition will be delivered to HC-One as part of the national Sick of SSP campaign - run by GMB UNION.

Sick Pay should be a right that every worker should have access to, but it can only happen if all HC-One workers get behind the campaign.

GMB members in HC-One were balloted on an offer that provides SSP from Day one, meaning that the 3 waiting days have been dropped and employees receive some sick pay from the first day they are sick.
It’s not enough. It’s still only £16 a day and what does that get you now? Milk and bread, maybe some fish fingers? But you probably won't fill your shopping basket.

The GMB and HC-One committee are continuing the campaign for Sick Pay - we are extending out past HC-One and looking to more political angles.
Thank you for your support to the campaign so far - we will keep you updated with the next actions which we hope you will support
