Bolton International Workers Memorial Day

Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don't die of mystery ailments, or in tragic "accidents". They die because an employer decided their safety just wasn't that important a priority. International Workers Memorial Day 28 April commemorates those workers.
This year we commemorate the The Pretoria Pit disaster, when, on 21 December 1910, an underground explosion occurred at the Hulton Colliery Bank Pit No. 3, known as the Pretoria Pit, in Over Hulton, Westhoughton killing a total of 344 men and boys.
