Too Hot to Work? Equity Heatwave briefing

Get clued up on how to keep yourself and fellow Equity members safe during a heatwave, at our Too Hot to Work? online briefing.
As the world gets hotter, so do our stages, sets and venues. In recent years more workers have been taking action to keep cool, and nationally Equity has joined the call for a maximum working temperature in law.
For Summer 2025, the TUC, Heat Strike and the Hazards Campaign are collaborating on a week of action. Between 14 - 20 July, they are asking union activists to take a form of action to organise against working in unsafe, unreasonably hot temperatures.
this briefing is open to all Equity deputies and activists working across live performance and recorded media to help them:
- Stay safe at work
- Organise fellow Equity members to demand heat mitigation measures to keep venues cool
- Hear from Equity for a Green New Deal and make a plan to take action during the Heat Strike week 14-20 July
There will be an opportunity for a Q&A with Equity Officials from our Live Performance and Recorded Media departments to answer any questions you might have.
We will email you the joining instructions closer to the time of the event.
