Why is this important?
After abandoning plans for swingeing cuts to Scotland's arts & culture industries in February this year, Culture Secretary Angus Robertson has suddenly announced the Scottish Government will reimpose a 10% funding cut weeks before applications for crucial support close.
This sudden funding cut is unacceptable, and puts the industry and thousands of jobs in the sector at risk. It is extraordinary that having been forced to abandon their unpopular plans to cut culture funding already this year, the Scottish Government is attempting to slip this cut through at the last minute.
