Save Oldham Coliseum public meeting
Oldham Coliseum is a theatre that has been creating culture by, for and with the people of Oldham for 135 years. But last week it was forced to cancel all upcoming programming in the wake of Arts Council England cutting 100% of its NPO funding.
On 21st February, we’re calling a public meeting to demand answers. You can ask the decision-makers why they’ve made these choices, and demand they find a solution that keeps good union jobs and a local theatre alive in Oldham for years to come.
We’re inviting a senior representative from Arts Council England, Oldham Council, and the Coliseum’s management team, as well as local MPs, to attend this meeting, and answer questions from YOU about what is going on at the Coliseum.
PRESS - Press are very welcome to attend. Please contact Steph Soh on [email protected] for info on interviewing speakers or if you wish to attend.

UPDATE 14 Feb: Our public meeting is going ahead. With the announcement today that the Coliseum will close, it is now more important than ever that we fight to reverse Arts Council England's funding cut. Arts Council England have the money to fix this, and we will continue to campaign until they do.
Confirmed speakers: Maxine Peake (actor), Victoria Brazier (actor and Equity NW Councillor), Paul Liversey (Equity NW Official), Chris Lawson (Coliseum CEO)
