Stop Suffolk Council's Arts/Culture Cuts DEMO

THE DEMO IS STILL ON! Suffolk Council's u-turn is nothing of the sort. Long-term stable funding for the 9 arts organisations currently supported by the Council is still facing a 100% cut.

The Council's new announcement is for a one off pot of funding open to anyone, forcing arts organisations to compete against each other, for a smaller cake cut into many slices and causing uncertainty.

The Council has confirmed that once this one-off pot has run out, they will still not fund any arts budget.

When: 1-2pm, 30 January
Where: outside Council offices, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich, IP1 2BX
What: Equity hosted photocall and demo
Speakers: Jack Abbott (Lab) Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Ipswich, Julia Ewart (Lib Dem) PPC Suffolk Coastal, Adrian Ramsey (Green) Green Party Leader PPC Waveney, Emma Buckmaster (Green) PPC Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket, Anthony Dooley, Secretary Unite Community, Beth Tuckey Actor & Equity Member, Iain Croker Equity Regional Official for the East & South East

Suffolk County Council are threatening to cut its arts and culture budget by 100%. But we're planning to stop them.

Join Equity's demo outside Suffolk County Council Offices, to show councillors that opposition to their cuts is building.

Children, schools and communities who need art the most will suffer the consequences of these cuts. Let's fight to put a stop to it.
