Protect our essential public services in Cornwall

Cornwall Council needs to reduce spending by over £70million now, with £18million being cut from staffing budgets across the local authority.

These cuts, which must be in place by 1st April 2022, will lead to hundreds of job losses and place vital public services at risk.

From our older relatives, carers, families and children to buses, housing, refuse and roads, we rely on the council to provide properly-funded, essential public services.

Join UNISON, UNITE and GMB trade unions in calling on Cornwall Council to:

• Speak up for the most vulnerable members of the Cornish community and the those who look after us all by urgently requesting additional funding from central government.
• Make it clear to the government, and the people of Cornwall, that it's impossible to continue delivering the current range of services while the council remains under-funded.
• Properly consult the people of Cornwall, ensuring they have a say and realise the impact these cuts will have on on public services in our communities.

Why is this important?

Trade unions estimate that this will result in over 400 job losses and essential public services will be severly impacted, if not lost altogether.
