Trade Union discrimination!

United Road Transport Union is campaigning to express grave concerns regarding the management practices at Oxalis Logistics UK Ltd, formally known as HOYER GPL. Principally issues related to employment policies, treatment of employees, and adherence to legal regulations. This is a well established company delivering to high profile and important to customers, including BP, Shell, Esso, Asda's, Morrisons, and World Fuels, therefore we believe is capable of maintaining appropriate employment practices.

It has come to our attention that there have been numerous instances where established procedures and policies have been ignored, resulting in unfair treatment of employees, particularly drivers. Despite expectations for proper adherence to policies, as required under the ACAS code, there appears to be a pattern of disparate treatment and harsh consequences disproportionately affecting drivers.

Further, there are troubling reports of discriminatory practices within the organisation. Several younger female staff members have been dismissed for minor issues, while male counterparts facing similar situations have received less severe disciplinary actions. Additionally, the underrepresentation of Black staff and the lack of promotion opportunities for this group, despite equal qualifications raises serious questions about indirect discrimination, and diversity and inclusion practices within the company. With under 2% of BAME staff in the outer London Office, it is clear there is significant evidence to justify our conclusions.
Of immediate concern is the victimisation of our URTU representative. They have faced obstacles in carrying out their duties, including denial of statutory facilities time, representation rights, and time off for training, which are clear breaches of the ACAS Code and the TULR(C)A. The recent issuance of a final written warning for work related to union duties is particularly alarming and appears to be an attempt to suppress legitimate union activities potentially reaching the threshold of trade union victimisation.
We believe that management's are undermining the rights and well-being of employees, and also violate a number of employment laws and ACAS guidelines. It is imperative that these issues be addressed promptly and transparently to ensure a fair and respectful work environment for all employees.
We urge management to engage in meaningful dialogue with employees and union representatives to address these concerns and work towards implementing corrective measures that uphold the principles of fairness, equality, and respect in the workplace.

Why is this important?

This campaign highlights the ongoing discrimination and victimisation in the private sector!
