Fair Treatment For Retail Workers

Retail workers in most cases are paid minimum wage and expected to do more and more work to make up for lack of staff.

The harder they work their staff the more time the staff take off sick due to exhaustion.

The increase in que sizes due to lack of staff leads to the staff being verbally abused by some of the less patient customers

We need:

Retail stores to actively increase staffing numbers

Provide Better security measures put in place to reduce theft and keep the staff safe

If all retail stores had the ability to increase its cctv camera coverage and had a direct link to on the beat police officers via walkie talkie at minimum this would improve matters security.

In Ireland companies are legally required to offer a contract of the average hours worked by an employee after that employee had regularly worked those hours every week for a pre determined period of time . This is something that should be implemented here in the uk.

Retail staff could also be paid a bit more per hour.

Why is this important?

The more support we have the more we tell the businesses that we value our retail workers and their safety and general health without pushing them so hard they become ill.
