Equal Pay In Sunderland

Sunderland City Council has been paying their care workers less than men, even though they do work of equal value.

On average their pay is £2.20 less per hour than that of a man doing a similar job - they have also been denied access to the council pension scheme.

We firmly believe that the only reason they do not have equal pay and pension rights is because the work undertaken by them, is predominantly done by women.

We’re calling on the Council to do the right thing and act to right this injustice.

Why is this important?

Please show your support by signing this petition and let's send a clear message to Sunderland City Council that they should put right their discriminatory pay practices.
