Equal Pay In Sunderland
%2012%20Sept.png)
Sunderland City Council has been paying care workers, schools workers and council workers, less than men, even though they do work of equal value.
On average their pay is £2.20 less per hour than that of a man doing a comparable job - some workers have even been denied access to the Council's pension scheme.
We firmly believe that the only reason they do not have equal pay and pension rights is because the work undertaken by them, is predominantly done by women.
We’re calling on the Council to do the right thing and act to right this injustice.
