Get Me Home Safely Norwich.
Norwich City Council must commit to fully endorse Unite's 'Get me Home Safely' campaign IN FULL.
Many Norwich late night workers are increasingly concerned about their safety travelling home from work.
Employers have a duty of care to eliminate violence and harassment in the workplace that extends to the commute home.
Employers must consider the hazards of late-night commuting during anti-social hours.
The Hospitality sector is already plagued with endemic sexual harassment.
Hospitality workers are low paid workers and should not have to choose between chronically expensive taxi fares or risking their safety by walking home late at night.
Why is this important?
The council CAN and SHOULD use it's powers around late night licensing criteria to ensure Hospitality venues provide free transport for late night and anti-social hours workers.
The council must also call for improved late night transport provision, minimum standards for taxi and private hire safety and stronger enforcement of harassment on public transport. 16 UK councils have agreed to support the campaign- let's make Norwich safe too!
