Save our Centres
At its budget setting meeting on 27 February 2025, West Berkshire Council voted to put three local day centres at risk of permanent closure. Phoenix, Hungerford, and Greenfield Resource Centres, have served the people of West Berkshire for many years and provide valuable day care services for vulnerable adults, who otherwise would have no where to go.
Please help us to stop the closure of these valuable local services by calling on West Berkshire Council to think again and Save our Centres.

Why is this important?
Phoenix, Greenfields, and Hungerford day centres provide invaluable support to some of the most vulnerable adults in society, including adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and for those with frailty and dementia. They are oversubscribed and much loved by the community.
Closure of these services is short sighted and will place additional pressure and costs on other public services such as homecare, care homes, and the NHS. Dedicated and experienced centre staff will lose their jobs and service users (and their families) will be negatively impacted.
The centres are purpose built and were recently refurbished at significant cost to the council. They survived and thrived despite a decade of council cuts and austerity. But today these essential services risk being lost forever.
