Stop the cuts at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
We are the NHS staff of Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are the voices on the phone, the people booking appointments, managing records, supporting clinical teams and keeping the hospitals running for patients across Cornwall.
Now our jobs are on the line.
The Trust is proposing to cut 150 admin posts, a quarter of our workforce, just weeks before Christmas. Behind every number is a person, a family, and years of service to our NHS.
In addition, the trust is proposing sweeping organisational changes which will affect a further 700 staff members and involve the elimination of a further 56 roles. They are also proposing to outsource entire departments to private companies.
We know what this will mean for patients: longer waits, missed calls, cancelled clinics and fewer people to keep the hospital running safely. These cuts are rushed, short-sighted and unsafe.

The Trust says it needs to save money. But it’s already spent over £400,000 on private consultants to plan these cuts. That’s public money that should be going to patient care, not to consultants making decisions from behind a spreadsheet.
We call on Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust to:
- Halt the planned job cuts immediately
- Halt the Care Group and Corporate, and Clinical Administration consultations
- Work with unions and staff on a fair, safe alternative that protects patient care
- End wasteful spending on private consultants
Cornwall’s NHS needs investment, not cuts. Patient care depends on the staff who keep the system running.
