• Make North Lincolnshire buses free for the duration of the COP climate talks: Robert Waltham
Public transport is the key to decarbonising our region and fighting climate change. But our public transport system won’t be around long if we aren’t willing to fight for it. Privatised bus companies are cutting routes, and ridership is going through the floor. That’s why we’re calling on our local politicians to make bus travel free, for all of us, for the duration of the UN COP26 climate talks in Glasgow this November. The more people use and value our bus network, the harder it is for private interests to take it away from us. Show our buses some love this November, and help us fight for free bus travel during COP26.

  • Take South Yorkshire's Buses Into Public Control
South Yorkshire's bus services are broken. But they could be world-class. Right now, private bus companies do what they like, dictating prices, routes, and timetables. You’ve seen the results: catastrophic cuts, skyrocketing fares, and buses that never turn up. It’s not just a bad deal for passengers — drivers are overworked and underpaid, leaving the bus companies struggling to run a reliable service as staff shortages bite. No wonder drivers are forced to strike! The new mayor of South Yorkshire, and your South Yorkshire council leaders, have the power to bring your buses into public control. Public control would mean affordable fares and more frequent buses. All with a smart ticket where daily spending is capped. And why not? It’s what they have in London! It would also put staff pay and conditions in public control, delivering a better deal for drivers and more reliable buses for you. South Yorkshire’s politicians are there to represent YOU! Let them know you think buses should be in public control.

  • West Yorkshire Needs A Tram!
Today Leeds is the largest city in Europe without a mass transit system, but West Yorkshire used to have a dense, cheap tram network accessible to everybody. We deserve a London quality transport system, nothing less. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority's Mass Transit 2040 plan has suggested that it might create a mass transit network using 'BRT' or Bus Rapid Transit, rather than a tram or light rail system. This is inadequate. West Yorkshire had a world leading tram network in the 1950s, making travel cheap and accessible to everyone. Now travel is more expensive and congested than ever. We need a guarantee that we'll get a tram to every town, not just another bus service! So we need every mayoral candidate to commit to a tram network that will serve every part of West Yorkshire, nothing less. A new tram line in your town would make your journeys quicker, open up jobs, reduce local pollution, and bring investment to our community. We need a new low carbon public transport system to fight pollution and climate change in our region. if its good enough for Manchester, Edinburgh and London, its good enough for us. Help us make this the big issue of the West Yorkshier mayoral election this year! Lets bring a tram system to West Yorkshire

  • Take West Yorkshire's Buses Back Under Public Control
West Yorkshire's bus services are broken. But they could be world class. The new Mayor of West Yorkshire will have the powers to fix our buses by bringing them back into public control. But we won't win this without a fight! Right now, bus companies do what they like and it's a wild west free market. And they're desperate to cling onto that power. Private companies control West Yorkshire’s bus network. They dictate prices, routes and timetables. The result has been catastrophic - passenger numbers have plummeted, prices have risen and services have shrunk. The new Mayor of West Yorkshire, and your West Yorkshire Council Leaders, have the power to regulate our buses. Regulation would mean affordable fares, and more evening and weekend services, all with a smart ticket where daily spending is capped. We need them to hear our message loud and clear, so there is no other choice the day after the election. (Image credit: Michael Taylor)

  • General Election to Elect Our Prime Minister
Boris Johnson is a right wing symbol for attacks on the most vulnerable sections of our society. Unelected, with no mandate equates to a free hand in decimating the Rights of workers, the NHS, the Climate. All our communities are in danger from this.
