Make York buses free for the duration of the COP climate talks: Keith AspdenPublic transport is the key to decarbonising our region and fighting climate change. But our public transport system won’t be around long if we aren’t willing to fight for it. Privatised bus companies are cutting routes, and ridership is going through the floor. That’s why we’re calling on our local politicians to make bus travel free, for all of us, for the duration of the UN COP26 climate talks in Glasgow this November. The more people use and value our bus network, the harder it is for private interests to take it away from us. Show our buses some love this November, and help us fight for free bus travel during COP26.52 of 100 Signatures

Clarks - end fire and rehireClarks is a staple brand on the British high street, with a history dating back over a century. Many children will be able to remember being taken to Clarks for their school shoes. Their customers have frequently rewarded them with loyalty. So too have their workforce - accepting no pay rises for some years. The workers most adversely impacted by these changes are those who have been employees for decades, sticking with the company through thick and thin, stepping up in the last year during the challenging pandemic period. Fire-and-rehire is no way to thank employees or your customers. The workers at Clarks deserve better.8,340 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Community Trade Union

East Lancashire NHS Trust: Fully honour your agreement and pay scientists fairlyThroughout the pandemic, biomedical scientists have been on the frontline of our NHS, analysing patient blood samples and carrying out covid-19 testing. Their work has been critical to keeping us safe. But the NHS Trust has let these key workers down. They have acted in bad faith and failed to fully honour the agreement to upgrade them from band 5 to band 6 and pay the back pay they are entitled to. After exploring all options to resolve the issue, Unite members were left with no choice but to take industrial action. And now the Trust is wasting public funds trying to break the strike. These workers need your support. Can you add your voice and demand East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust honour their agreement?5,248 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Unite the Union

Oppose the cuts to LNER ticket office hoursStaffed ticket offices make the rail network more safe, secure and accessible for passengers. Ticket offices and travel shops provide a wide range of services and advice in addition to ticket sales that passengers cannot access from Ticket Vending Machines and online ticketing platforms. RMT believes that LNER's proposals to reduce ticket office hours at these 13 stations would worsen passenger safety, security and accessibility and make it easier to reduce staffing at these stations. The cuts would also make it harder for passengers to get the cheapest and most appropriate tickets and restrict the advice they can access at the ticket office. The cuts will also deter passengers from using the rail network and are completely at odds with the the UK Government's climate change targets. RMT believes that the cuts will be particularly damaging for some groups including disabled passengers, elderly passengers and people on lower incomes who may not have access to digital ticketing. Transport Focus' own passenger research, published in October 2020, found that ‘staff play a central role in helping passengers feel safe and secure’ and that passengers want to see more rather than less rail staff. Cuts to ticket office hours run counter to this. For these reasons, RMT believes that the proposals must be withdrawn and the current ticket office hours protected.2,548 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by RMT Union

Take South Yorkshire's Buses Into Public ControlSouth Yorkshire's bus services are broken. But they could be world-class. Right now, private bus companies do what they like, dictating prices, routes, and timetables. You’ve seen the results: catastrophic cuts, skyrocketing fares, and buses that never turn up. It’s not just a bad deal for passengers — drivers are overworked and underpaid, leaving the bus companies struggling to run a reliable service as staff shortages bite. No wonder drivers are forced to strike! The new mayor of South Yorkshire, and your South Yorkshire council leaders, have the power to bring your buses into public control. Public control would mean affordable fares and more frequent buses. All with a smart ticket where daily spending is capped. And why not? It’s what they have in London! It would also put staff pay and conditions in public control, delivering a better deal for drivers and more reliable buses for you. South Yorkshire’s politicians are there to represent YOU! Let them know you think buses should be in public control. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GydjR9SWgAAx94L?format=jpg&name=small5,091 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Better Buses
